Time Regions and E ects for Resource Usage Analysis

چکیده

Various resources such as les and memory are associated with certain protocols about how they should be accessed. For example, a memory cell that has been allocated should be eventually deallocated, and after the deallocation, the cell should no longer be accessed. Igarashi and Kobayashi recently proposed a general type-based method to check whether a program follows such resource access policies, but their analysis was not precise enough for certain programs. In this paper, we re ne their type-based analysis by introducing a new notion of time regions. The resulting analysis combines the merits of two major previous approaches to type-based analysis of resource usage { linear-type-based and e ect-based approaches.

Usage-based charging using e ective bandwidths: studies and reality

This paper studies an approach that uses the e ective bandwidth as a measure of resource usage for creating time-only ( at rate) and timeand volume-based tari s for ATM services with guaranteed QoS. We rst argue that it is advantageous for a network operator to charge according to e ective bandwidths since this would lead to higher aggregate utility and to competitive gains related to the long ...

AIOSC: Analytical Integer Word-length Optimization based on System Characteristics for Recursive Fixed-point LTI Systems

The integer word-length optimization known as range analysis (RA) of the fixed-point designs is a challenging problem in high level synthesis and optimization of linear-time-invariant (LTI) systems. The analysis has significant effects on the resource usage, accuracy and efficiency of the final implementation, as well as the optimization time. Conventional methods in recursive LTI systems suffe...

A THEORETICALLY CORRECT RESOURCE USAGE VISUALIZATION FOR THE RESOURCE-CONSTRAINED PROJECT SCHEDULING PROBLEM

The cumulative resource constraints of the resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) do not treat the resource demands as geometric rectangles, that is, activities are not necessarily assigned to the same resource units over their processing times. In spite of this fact, most papers on resource-constrained project scheduling mainly in the motivation phase use a strip packing of re...

QoS based Integration of IP and ATM: Resource Renegotiation

The dynamic and e cient usage of the resources is one of the fundamental aspects studied in the DIANA project [1]: at rst the tra c speci cation should re ects the real tra c demand, but, at the same time, optimise the resources requested. In applications, which uses RSVP, this can be reached with the introduction of the RVBR Service described in [2], which is based on the renegotiation of the ...

Performance and Design of Turbo Codes on Rayleigh Fading Channels

Fading in wireless environments is a major obstacle to reliable communications. In order to mitigate the e ects of fading, channel coding is often employed. In this thesis, the performance and design of the channel coding technique, turbo codes, [1] is examined over Rayleigh fading channels. The thesis considers coherent BPSK signaling over both time-correlated and fully-interleaved Rayleigh, s...
